Comprar Asus EEEThe Asus EEE, for those of you who haven’t heard of it yet, is a UMPC that costs 400 bucks in the US and come (as you read) in Windows and Xandros flavours. It supports a 2 GB expansion and etc, etc etc.

Talking of it like that is really boring, you can read that, by better informed people elsewhere. What I want to tell you is who should buy it and who shouldn’t.

  • Salesmen: This is great for you, only thing to care about is battery life. But with a car charger it’ll all be good.
  • Designers: You need to buy it if you’re the PowerPoint presentation kind of guy. If not this is not an option, a 7 in. screen is no place to work, and though you could plug in a mouse, it would be very uncomfortable to design on it.
  • Bars: no use for you guys
  • The integrated camera and the ability to connect to the world via WiFi makes this gadget a must have tool for the average executive.  Word and Excel documents are easily modified and reviewed and your mail will be with you… always.
  • If I was a writer this would be my travel machine, it’s really light and maybe the keyboard is too small, but that is not really something that will make you uncomfortable.

Market shareI remember when market research was a million dollar thing to do… Ok, I don’t, maybe I’m to young to remember, but I can imagine how hard it could have been without the Internet.

Think of any way to start a market research, a cheap one, that does not start at the world wide web. Difficult ha? And maybe even more difficult if you try not to think of Google.

So here is how we do it. We turn on the web, and Google our thing. That’s (usually) it .Today I want to say a couple of thing about that.

  1. Try different search engines.
  2. And then…
    • Go through clicks when your looking, click and click, and please try to read, don’t look for numbers
    • Different engines may give you different results, try a couple no matter what is your favorite, and don’t forget to search for images
    • When you’re looking for market data on blog, look at the blogroll, numbers must be somewhere
    • Bookmark everything, social bookmarking is growing really fast, some other person was probably looking for the same thing and maybe what you’re looking for is already bookmarked. Search in Del.icio.us too!

Swiss army thumb driveLet’s face it, if don’t have a thumb drive by now, your probably cheaper than you think. The thing is, no matter how portable is your data traveling gear, nothing is faster than plugging the thing in and getting the data out.

Really, think about it. These little bugs are really inexpensive, and not having one is a major inconvenience.

These days, maybe you have some 100 MB to move around, in images or music, or just plain data. Internet is every were, but is not that fast.

Buy one don’t be cheap. It will really come in handy one day and you’ll thank me.

Here are some “Whys”

  • Suppose you want that (put anything here) you are watching right now.
  • Maybe you are at a friend’s and his/her wordpress theme is just what you were looking for.
  • Your battery may day, your data shouldn’t.
